STEP - RELATIONS
The problem we face with a step-mom/dad and step-bros/sis..
I don't know about the lifestyle outside India except for the one they show in the movies in which its very simple.. either they step-people are evil or they are good
In India , we are taught by our elders to treat everybody with respect even if you hate them and this creates a big problem because you'll never know even whether your own family member likes you or not until he/she has had enough of you and yells at you or starts doing stuff behind your back..
The same thing kind of happened to me when my dad got married again in 2010 which totally changed my life.. At that time I was in my 12th std and it was a five months before my annual examinations. Initially it was fine.. Having a step mom had its perks because we got a new cook who actually knew how to cook unlike my dad.. ( great man - took care of me and my sister for eight years till he got married in 2010. he did all the house hold work.. of course we helped).
I had a car with a friendly driver and new relatives which is always fun..
But after i quit college (that a story for another time - why i quit college) and came back home in 2012, my relatives who were happy that i had gotten into college, started hating me.. and all the respect i had earned for 18yrs in my family got flushed down the toilet.
The beauty of the situation is that sometimes what my stepmom did actually makes me thing that she enjoyed me being a failure in life.. even after i joined in another college in 2013 and started a new life she always pointed out my mistakes.. which for a person like me or in my situation is like putting an anchor around my neck to bring me down..
I told my dad but he is scared that bring this up with her will break their relationship..
SEE THE POINT OF ME TELLING THIS WHOLE STORY IS:
Most people don't care about us... even my dad who has been with me from the time i started existing in this world does not what to help me when he sees it is not profitable to him..
life is a business and you are the owner of your own business.. so take control of it and give a damn to what people think about you ... and a good businessman would do make profits.. this means that do things that first profitable to you then to others..
I know what i am saying is like i am asking you to be stingy and self centered.. well that's how the whole world is and thats how we have to be.. not 100%.. 50-50.. make wise choices and the wisdom for that comes by learning from your own and other's mistakes..
